The magical world of the sculptor Ioanna Spiteri
Teloglion Foundation of Arts A.U.Th.Description
The retrospective exhibition of the sculptor Ioanna Spiteri is organised at the Teloglion Foundation, forty years after her last solo exhibition in Greece. For the first time, her entire work is presented to the public, featuring more than 180 works, almost unknown in Greece but extremely significant in quantity and value for modern sculpture.
The exhibition includes sculptures in bronze, marble, wood, constructions, drawings, engravings, models, paper cutting, space, geometry, multiple solutions and transformation toys that reveal a gifted, restless woman, ahead of her time, with a strong awareness of the objective of art and honesty at every level, inviting one to a constant dialogue with her work.
The children will have the opportunity to get to know the work of the exceptional sculptor and travel with us from Athens, to Venice and then to Paris, discovering the phases of her production process, identifying the differences in the sculptures of the exhibition. The colourful geometric sculptures are the starting points of discussions about the positive-negative in art, the abstraction, cubism and expressionism.
At the end, children are asked to consider the importance of space in sculpture (public sculpture & land art) and activate their observation, identifying public sculpture works in their city.
Note: The program is offered per class of a maximum of 25 students
